"After" photos of the Labor Day house cleaning.

Labor Day...literally !!!

"B

Spent our entire Labor Day weekend doing just that.... Labor. We moved walls, painted new shelving and re-arranged half the shop.

Here are a few of the "BEFORE"shots.

Since the shop was closed I wore my oldest pajama bottoms and a ratty tee shirt to do the painting in. Guess how many customers we had in to see that delightful outfit?

The place was jumpin' - we opened the front door to air out the paint smell. We had it blocked with a quilt rack and sign that said we were closed. When they all started to arrive, we gladly let them in with the understanding that they not notice my fancy outfit and had to carefully shop around the mess. Great group of quilters, they just laughed and climbed over the piles of fabric and ducked under the ladder. We washed the paint off our hands and cut fabric for them and one of the ladies from
Brainerd purchased my Celery Featherweight. She already has two of the black ones so this is a new addition.

It was a fun and still constructive day. We spent a total of 16 hours but it was worth it.

Special Thanks to "Other Patti" for coming in and helping us get it back together... with out her help it would not have gotten done as quickly.

Next post will be the "AFTER" photos.

Quilts of Valor Thursday

The first Thursday of each month Fabric Town is invaded by the "Quilts of Valor" group. I say invaded because for 5 hours they turn our classroom into a Quilting Sweat Shop. They piece, bind and make pillow cases. Each Quilt top is then machine quilted, bound, labeled and put into the coordinating case. The pillow case is actually a presentation case.

When the quilts leave Fabric Town they are distributed to locations such as, Minneapolis VA hospital, Landstahl Medical Center in Germany and to the National Guard to be given to soldiers who have done multiple tours.

These ladies are dedicated to making a quilt for as many of our service men and woman as possible. So far, since their inception in January of 2007, the group has completed 440 quilts.

When all you hear on the news and read in the newspapers are acts of violence and pain, it's nice to know that there are also alot of people willing to help others.

Class samples are up and classes are filling.

Our classes are on line and the samples are all hung. Jeff finished putting the last one up yesterday. He's beginning to get an artistic flare when it comes to draping, folding and displaying the quilts, totes and purses.

Classes and clubs are filling up. If you see something you'd like to take, give us a call so we can reserve your spot. We do still have a few spots open in the Groovy Girls Club.

Thanks to Patti H. for sending all the emails out. Everyone liked the reminder.

Birthday Buddies 3rd Golf Tournament

Yesterday was our 3rd Golf Tournament for Birthday Buddies. What a fantastic day, the weather was sunny and clear, the golfers were in good form and Majestic Oaks did a wonderful job helping us host this event.

Here are a few of our golfers warming up on the putting green, cooling off with a bud light or just relaxing before the carts took off for the course.

When the day was over, we had raised enough to provide birthday parties for approx. 200 families.

Thank you to all who helped make that possible. Without your support, we could not continue.

We will post the exact date of next years event soon....see you next year.

All Hopped out...

Good Morning,

The hop is over and things are back to normal at the shop.

I have decided that shop hops are one of my favorite events!!!!!

What a great time we had. I think my favorite part is that everyday you got to meet lots of new customers from all over. Many of the faces we only get to see once a year because they fly in to do Quilt Minnesota with friends or family. Now that's a compliment to all the shops who participate and make this a wonderful event.

Today is our Metro Sections wrap up meeting. We will pick winners, and start the process of planning for next year. It's amazing how fast the time flies. Before you know it,fall and winter will be over and we will be welcoming Spring.

Spring to me also means the "Twin Cities Shop til you Drop Tour". We are already working on and planning for that one. Two great events that I look forward to each year. I hope you do too. I'll keep you informed of anything special as we continue the planning.

I better get ready to head to Glad Creations for our meeting, don't want to be late.

Have a great day,
Patti

Just a sample of what's new for the up coming Fall season.

Here are a few pics of what we have new in the shop for all you Hallowee and Fall lovers!

More will be added in the next few days. Lola is working on the cutest wall hanging and the girls are making more as well.

Do you like to decorate your table for Halloween? We have put together a new runner by Debbie Bowles of Maple Island Quilts. It's called "Rick Rack Rendezvous (see above) and once again, we've put together a topper using Terry Atkinson's (Atkinson Designs) "Happy Holidays" pattern.

Jamie made up the cutest wall hanging by Country Threads called "Trick or Treat". Becky whipped up a few pot holders that are wonderful to add a little fun to your kitchen.

To coin a phrase . . . "Boo-tiful and Spook-tacular"! Stop in and check them out. There's sure to be something for everyone.
